Carme Jordi
Professor of Astronomy at the UB
PhD in Physics from the University of Barcelona (UB), Professor of Astronomy at the UB, member of the Institute of Cosmos Sciences, the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia and the Institute of Catalan Studies.
Her research focuses on galactic astronomy and stellar physics, and in particular, on the physical characterisation of stars and stellar clusters. This research is based on astrometric, photometric and spectroscopic observations made from observatories around the world and from space.
She has participated in European Space Agency (ESA) space missions and is currently fully involved in ESA's Gaia project. She is a member of the Gaia Science Team, ESA's scientific advisory body.
Interested in bringing science to the whole of society, she has been involved for years in outreach activities, activities for primary and secondary school students and in classrooms for the elderly.
