Degree in Medicine, PhD in Public Health, specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health and in Family and Community Medicine. She works at the Barcelona Public Health Agency and is an associate lecturer at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF). Director of the Spanish journal Gaceta Sanitaria from 2010 to 2016. Her area of research is the study of the social determinants of health, leading research groups in this regard and various national and international projects, and has published numerous scientific articles. She has been the principal investigator of the SOPHIE project funded by the European Union (7th Framework Programme). She is also a science communicator for El Periodico.
