Verónica Elizabeth Mejía Juárez
Geographer and engineer specialising in territorial and urban planning
PhD in Geography from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), architect from the University of Cuenca (Ecuador) with a specialisation in Urban Planning and Design, engineer in Environmental Management and master's degree in Urban Management and Valuation from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC).
She has held various responsibilities in the field of territorial and urban planning. She was also part of the drafting team of the Urban Plan of the city of Cuenca (Ecuador) where she was in charge of data analysis and management of geographic information bases. In 2017 she joined the Territory, Energy and Society Studies Group of the UAB and started the PhD programme in the Department of Geography of the UAB.
Her doctoral research project has been directed by Oriol Nel·lo, from the UAB, and Joan Vicente, from the University of Girona (UdG). She has published several academic articles on the relationship between the urbanisation process and energy generation and consumption.
