ICREA research professor at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), head of the Comparative Genomics Laboratory at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (IBE-UPF-CSIC) and with double appointment at the National Center for Genomic Analysis (CNAG-*CRG). His academic interests combine evolutionary and conservation biology. He has focused his research career on the evolution of our species, promoting the knowledge of our closest relatives, the apes, from a molecular perspective and for conservation purposes. He is the author of numerous scientific manuscripts in international journals, has collaborated with Cosmocaixa as a scientific advisor, has organized several symposia at the European School of Humanities of the Obra Social "la Caixa" and is the editor of the book Deu aportacions catalanes a la ciència actual.
