He has worked in local government environmental services, National Health Services (NHS) joint planning, and for the European Commission, World Health Organization (WHO) and European and national NGOs. He is the author, with Tim Lang, of Ecological Public Health: Reshaping the Conditions of Good Health (Routledge 2012). Furthermore, he is a former chairman of the UK Public Health Association.
