Professor, researcher and student mentor at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de Telecomunicación de Barcelona, at the Universidad Politècnica de Cataluña (UPC). He has been visiting professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder, at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, at the Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies (ICREA), and scientific advisor to the Directorate General Y+D+y of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

He has participated in research projects of the EU, the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the European Space Agency (ESA), in multidisciplinary groups, including cooperation with colleagues from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne (EPFL), Google, Aalto University, Intel, the University of California at Berkeley, IBM and Cornell University.

Lecturing plenary or invited to five continents, he has been editor-in-chief of the Spanish Institute of Strategic Studies (IEEE) journal on emerging topics in circuits and systems, and general manager of the world engineering education congress Conceive Design Implement Operate (CDIO) in Barcelona in 2013.
