Tomás Montalvo
Agència de Salut Pública de Barcelona
He is head of the vector surveillance and control programme in the city of Barcelona, and a researcher at CIBER Epidemiology and Public Health (CIBERESP). His management focuses on the knowledge of the factors that explain the presence of different vectors locally, and in the creation of surveillance and control strategies for the reduction of risks in the transmission of vector-borne diseases.
He is a member of different national and international committees for the creation of vector-borne control strategies. His work is currently focused on the study of the variables that modulate the risk of transmission of arboviruses (dengue, chikungunya, zika and West Nile virus), and the development of technological tools to improve early detection, quantification and the determination of the different species of vectors.
