CITIZENS’ LABORATORIES AND THE CREATION OF KNOWLEDGE
Citizens’ laboratories are places for collaboration and participation in order to rethink how we can construct new socially robust knowledge and how the combination and the inclusion of different actors can multiply individual knowledge. What experiences already exist in Spain? How is work done in them? In what contexts? In this debate we shall be talking about the experiences of Barcelona, Zaragoza and Madrid, among others.
We shall be discussing the results of the Citizen Science Hackathon and the meeting of experts for promoting citizen science in Spain by the Ibercivis Foundation and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), held in Barcelona as part of the City and Science Biennial. We shall present the manifesto on citizen science, and we shall explore the value of the knowledge developed in cities, and of citizens’ laboratories and citizen science, stressing the possibilities for collective research when starting certain actions.
