María Blasco
She has a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She is the director of the National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), where she is also in charge of the Telomeres and Telomerase Group. Her work has been focused on demonstrating the importance of telomeres and telomerase in cancer, and in age-related diseases. With more than 250 publications and acknowledged by international and national awards, she is Doctor Honoris Causa of Carlos III University in Madrid and the University of Alicante, and has the Prize for Scientific Merit from the Generalitat Valenciana.
