THE HISTORY OF THE OLD SANTA CREU HOSPITAL
The old Santa Creu hospital began life as a place that took in the poor and wretched and which developed over the centuries to become a pioneering medical centre where ground-breaking medicine was practised. Reis Fontanals will explain succinctly the 600 years of this institution’s life and the type of documentation that was generated there, and which has been conserved in the Library of Catalonia, and she will tell us about its distinguished chief surgeon, Doctor Josep Trueta.
