Elisa Ortiz
Elisa Ortiz (1990) gained her higher qualification in the speciality of the cello in 2016. That same year she obtained the qualification of Advanced Musicianship at Alfonso X El Sabio University with the pedagogue and cellist María Casado and the soloist Asier Polo. During the academic year 2013-2014, she did pedagogical research work applied to the cello with psychologist and pianist Francisco Escoda, and in her interest in the social branch of music, in 2016 she learned about the music and social programme DaLaNota in the neighbourhood of Lavapiés, where she currently works as a cello teacher. She now combines her teaching and playing with a psychology degree at the UNED.
As a player, she is a member of the quartet Okendo, a group formed out of the DaLaNota project with the aim of disseminating the music of other cultures and styles accessibly and bringing music to all kinds of people. They have played in numerous venues in Madrid and they recently adapted Ibsen’s story Peer Gynt, with music by Grieg, for narrator and quartet, for primary and secondary school pupils.
