The Science Festival reaches its 14th edition
Science on the waterfront
As a new feature of the second Biennial City and Science, the fourteenth edition of the Science Festival will be held on June 13, from 10 am to 9.30 pm, on the waterfront of Barcelona. The Festival is the result of the joint work of universities, research centers, other scientific institutions and companies, and outreach professionals, who with their proposals make up the program that this year has 121 activities, 187 participants and 95 institutions. The Festival represents science in all its breadth.
Workshops, demonstrations, itineraries, micro-talks, guided tours and shows for children, young people and adults, with the aim of bringing science even closer to the public. Topics such as health and ecology will be highlighted, but also activities related to astronomy, artificial intelligence, the sea, mathematics, the brain or the close link between art and science and also the important role of women in this discipline. These and many more disciplines can be experienced in first person by scientists, scientists and professionals of popularization in the various spaces where this edition will take place.
One of these spaces is the Barceloneta Park, where there will be proposals with demonstrations and workshops such as Matter and materials, where you can discover materials such as graphene, the properties of minerals and the particles that make up matter, shows in the Gasometer as Bestial Magnetism, where Marc Boada will surprise with phenomena produced with high-powered magnets, or Let’s do magic with mathematics, a show by Sergio Belmonte on the connection between this science and illusionism. Near the park, La Fàbrica del Sol offers two guided tours in its demonstration building, renovated under sustainability criteria and providing a lot of ideas to live in a more respectful way with the environment.
