Victòria Puig
Expert in neurophysiology and cognitive neuroscience
Degree in Biochemistry and PhD in Neurosciences by the University of Barcelona (UB). She has carried out postdoctoral fellowships in Japan and the United States (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT). Currently she leads the Neuromodulation of Neural Networks and Circuits group at the Institut Hospital del Mar d'Investigacions Mèdiques (IMIM). Her laboratory investigates how neural network activity and brain connectivity contribute to cognitive processes in brain disease animal models (Down syndrome, schizophrenia, epilepsy). Her group is also actively involved in the development of new technologies for the treatment of neurological and psychiatric diseases. She is a world expert in neurophysiology, cognitive neuroscience and pharmacology in monkeys and rodents, and her contributions have been published in numerous international journals. Victòria Puig is also an active science communicator.
