Marta G. Rivera Ferre
Research professor at INGENIO (CSIC-UPV), and researcher at the Chair of Agroecology in UVic-UCC
Research professor at INGENIO (CSIC-UPV), researcher at the Chair of Agroecology at the University of Vic (UVic-UCC), honorary researcher at the University of Coventry. She coordinates the research line Sustainable communities, social innovations and territories within the research group Societies, Policies and Inclusive Communities and directs the chair Agroecology and Food Systems for Social Transformation.
She has carried out research stays at the Rowett Research Institute in the United Kingdom, as well as at the Alterra Research Institute and Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Her research experience has provided him with a multidisciplinary profile in the analysis of agri-food systems as complex socio-ecological systems. From the critical sociology of agriculture and food she has analyzed the interactions between agriculture, food, society and environment, with emphasis on climate change adaptation and food security and sovereignty, as well as the social function of agriculture and the role of women from a feminist studies perspective.
She has participated as an author in several United Nations panels: the International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development (IAASTD), the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). She participated in the committee of experts that advised the European Commission on the transition to sustainable food systems (SAPEA).
