José Antonio Díez Calzada
Researcher in philosophy of science
He studied Philosophy at the University of Barcelona (UB), where he also completed his PhD with a dissertation on theories of measurement. He has taught at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) and at the UB. He is a visiting scholar at the University of Munich (LMU), New York University (NYU), the London School of Economics (LSE) and the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, he is a visiting professor at several foreign universities. He is deputy coordinator of LOGOS, member of BIAP and researcher at the Center for Philosophy of Social and Natural Sciences at the LSE.
His main area of research is the philosophy of science, in particular, theories of measurement, structuralism, scientific explanation and representation, and the semantics of scientific concepts, but he is also interested in epistemology, philosophy of language and philosophy of mind, as well as the relationship between rationality and emotions. He is co-director of the philosophy festival Barcelona Pensa since 2016.
