PhD in Philosophy by the University of Barcelona (UB) and currently professor emeritus and trustee of the University of Girona (UdG). A specialist and translator of Cicero and Thomas More, he has published and lectured here and in different countries on topics related to education, ethics and politics. His latest book is an essay on urban ethics, Ciudades de valores, ciudades valiosas. 

As a politician he has been a member of Congress (spokesman for science policy and fundamental rights and public freedoms) in Parliament. He has also been deputy mayor of Girona City Council and Minister of Education and Universities in the last government of Pasqual Maragall.
