Carles Castell Puig
Ecologist and expert in management of natural areas
PhD in Biology specialized in Ecology. Master in Environmental Management in the Rural World and Master in Directive Function. He spent ten years at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) developing research projects on the dynamics of Mediterranean terrestrial ecosystems. For 25 years he has worked in the area of Natural Areas of the Diputació de Barcelona, developing programs of analysis, planning, management, monitoring and conservation in protected natural areas. He is currently responsible for the coordination of environmental programs and actions in the area of Climate Action.
He has published numerous books and scientific and informative articles, and collaborates regularly in several courses and postgraduate programs. In 2019 he collaborated with the Museum of Natural Sciences of Barcelona as scientific and communicative advisor of the exhibition Somos Natura. He was also president of the Spanish state section of the Federation of European National and Natural Parks (EUROPARC) and coordinator of the work program Society and Protected Areas. He is currently a member of the EUROPARC working group on Health and Protected Areas and of the Health and Nature Table of Catalonia.
