Ellen S. Baker

She is a doctor and former astronaut of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). She has a PhD in Medicine from Cornell University and a master’s in Public Health from the University of Texas. In 1981 she joined NASA as an official doctor and graduated in Aerospace Medicine. She is known for her work in the Education and Medicine Division of the Astronauts Office of NASA. In 1985 she became an astronaut. Baker has worked on the space shuttle programme and in the space station. She has taken part in three space missions, with more than 600 hours in space.
