THERE’S A PLACE FOR YOU IN PHYSICS

What does discovering a particle mean? How do they work on the ATLAS experiment at the CERN particle accelerator? To celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science, leading female researchers from the Institute of High Energy Physics (IFAE) are organizing a particle physics workshop with female pupils and teachers of 1st and 2nd year batxillerat (A-level in the UK). They will learn how the ATLAS experiment works (based on real data), they will rediscover the Z boson and the Higgs Boson, they will learn what tools we have to study the subatomic world and they will celebrate the crucial contributions of many women to fundamental physics.
