THE CHALLENGES OF SCIENCE

THE PAST AND PRESENT IN THE WORDS OF EXPERTS AND NOBEL PRIZE WINNERS

What were the scientific challenges of the 20th century? What role did women play and what difficulties did they encounter in an area historically reserved for men? What is the current panorama in science? In the age of fake news, is there more or less citizen science culture?

In this round table, we shall discuss the most important challenges that science faced in the past, both with regard to scientific content and to gender. We shall see how those challenges have evolved and we shall analyse the crucial points that are today experienced in science, as well as the evolution of the role of women in this field. The speeches by internationally renowned Nobel Prize winners and experts will have a beautiful counterpoint in the illustrations by Pilarín Bayés. José Ramón Calvo, the president of the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research of the Royal European Academy of Doctors (RAED), will moderate the session.
