PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO HUMANS

SOCIALLY ASSISTIVE ROBOTICS

Socially assistive robotics is focused on the robots that provide assistance to people convalescing or in rehabilitation and in educational and training environments, among others, but always through social interaction.

In this workshop we shall see how pet-like robots such as Pleo can be used in social interaction, and we shall discuss the implications that the use of robots may have in healthcare. How can they help us? How do they differ from other types of robots or, even, technologies? What ethical issues do these technologies pose for us? We will be able to play with them, to understand how they function and how they can be used in a specific project designed by the Robots4Health initiative at Sant Joan de Déu children’s hospital.

Places limited. Advance booking necessary. Each person will be able to book a maximum of 2 workshops. Duration of activity: 25 minutes.
