WHAT WILL WE EAT ON MARS?
GASTRONOMY OF THE FUTURE
The possibility that in a not too distant future humans might be able to establish colonies on the planet Mars is more of a reality every day. From the point of view of food, the requirements for making the presence of humans possible in such an inhospitable terrain have to be assessed according to two determinants: the nutritional needs and cultural diversity of the future residents.
One thing seems clear: it will be necessary to plan highly productive plantations on its surface which require very little water. This production will supply the humans living there with the necessary plants and vegetables, from the nutritional point of view. But they will also need other components, which they can get from consuming insects. The production of insects is very sustainable and far more adaptable to complex conditions, and they have great nutritional value.
